Stockton/San Joaquin Literacy & Community Education asked me to be a speaker at their monthly Literacy Social.
This is the same program where I learned to read some 40 years ago. This was in June, it was amazing to speak to early readers as well as other adults who may struggle with literacy.
My friend, Helen Wisby, came with me as well. She was my Literacy Instructor in 1988 and became a life-long friend. We were able to share our story together.
Helen volunteered just one night a week, and it changed my life!
